| From the historic buildings designed by Cuthbert Brodrick to the modern skyscrapers in the city centre, Leeds is full of iconic architecture. To coincide with the Leeds Architecture Awards, the Yorkshire Evening Post launched a search for the city’s favourite building. We asked our readers to name and vote for their favourite building and the shortlist reflects both the popular and the less well known, the historic and the contemporary. The YEP is very supportive of new building projects, particularly those which change the shape of the city and provide a welcome boost to the economy. But we are also aware of the extraordinary architectural heritage Leeds enjoys. The award for Leeds’ Favourite Building celebrates this heritage as well as the contribution being made by new generations of architects and developers. PAUL NAPIER Editor, Yorkshire Evening Post |
